Floyd Mayweather Jr has to show he wants to fight me – Manny Pacquiao

24 Oct

Robert Delgado – Los Angeles

Filipino hotshot Manny Pacquiao has spoken out over the importance of his concluding contest with his most fierce rival; Juan Manuel Marquez, a bout that is due to be competed on Saturday, November 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The 32-year-old also remarked on fellow welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, claiming the American defensive talent needs to demonstrate that he wants a fight with Pacquiao.

“Because it’s our third fight — our last fight — I have to end all the issues, all the doubts in people’s minds about beating him,” said Pacquiao to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times. Pacquiao was, of course, referring to the final fight in his highly-anticipated trilogy with Marquez (53-5-1, 39ko).

The interest in the match-up has been rife due to the 24 rounds that preceded it. In 2004 the prizefighting pair were inseparable at featherweight and received a draw for their efforts. Four years later, they again endured a distance war yet, this time, Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38ko) prevailed by way of split decision in a verdict that has polarised opinion ever since… the most notable critic of the decision; Marquez, traveled to the Philippines for a press tour to hype the imminent November fight with his proclamations of injustice as he believes he was triumphant in both fights.

It is because of this that has made the rubber-match with Marquez a personal one for Manny, who said: “You always hear me say I want to make people happy, make people satisfied with my fights. I want to be happy too.”

Another of Pacquiao’s current rivals – one that was only born in modern times and one where no fists, just words and unsigned contracts have been exchanged – is with boxing wizard Floyd Mayweather Jr, the current champion of the WBC welterweight world title and, according to Freddie Roach, the sole 147lb campaigner who can provide a challenge to his ward.

A fight between the two would not only settle whom the greatest welter is between them, but who the current pound-for-pound number one is also, for boxing scribes and publications are divided between whom the king of the mythical lists truly is. For Pacquiao, though, Mayweather Jr (42-0-0, 26ko) needs to “show” him that he wants the fight.

“Whoever I have to fight the rest of my career, I’m happy and satisfied with what I’ve done. I don’t need to be looking for, or chasing, a fight. I want the fight, but I cannot force him to take it.

“He has to show he wants to fight me.”

I want to fight Manny. Who said I’m scared of fighting Manny? Manny, you’re next… but you have to take the test. You have to take the blood test immediately after signing the contract and everyday thereafter up to the day of the fight and also immediately after. You can’t train in the Phils, you have to train in the US where we can investigate what you eat everyday. We have to install cameras in your suite so we can watch everything you do even when you sleep. Sparring partners must first be approved before you train. I must know that I’m fighting you on a lever playing field. I’m doing this to clean up boxing. By the way PPV should be 60% for me and 40% for you because I’m the draw. Still want to fight me? Okay, you can’t train under Freddie you have to train under my father.

    • joey October 26, 2011 at 3:30 am #

okay, to even the playing field, we have to cut your head or maybe just the top coz your 5’8 and manny is 5’6, its no big deal coz your not using that most of the time. By the way, your arms are longer too so we have to cut that also.

Pacman cannot be paid, bullied nor intimidated by someone like coward Fraud Mayweather Jr. It is that simple…he is already calling him out and now he is hiding. Where are you Floydie? Guess he is still busy counting his last PPV revenue which came short as expected. Digging through his pockets to come out with the right figures. Perhaps, just waiting for the Nov 12 results of PPV to announce it so he can compare them. No comparison. Too bad the Philippines is not counted on the PPV stats, otherwise, it will be over 2 million easily.

“Yes, Pac you’re next”!, “Just take the test and we have a fight”! “Pacquiao should only train in America”! Damn….. endless excuses!.

“Yes, Pac you’re next”! Pac should only train in America”! Just take the test and we have a fight” Pac didn’t agree to unlimited test,. the wild card janitor says 14 days cut-off! Dammmmmn… endless Floyd excuses and he’s asking America to support him!

Floyd is all mouth! He blurts words he cannot stand for!If he is not afraid of the Pacman, come forward and sign the contract! By then we will know if what you are saying along with your equally big mouthed father & Uncles that you will Manny in the ring is true! Fight him & we will see who will kiss the canvass for good! Show that your defense can withstand the onslaught of the Pacman! If you will be in the ropes as what you did in the Ortiz fight, then you will be in big trouble! You can elude maybe 1,2, or 3 punches, but how about 4,5,6 & 7? Your big mouth will be busted for sure!

Floyd is waiting for the go signal of his lawyer to fight pacman or not. I told his lawyer to keep delaying floyd’s humongous court cases, so he could collect more money from Floyd. Nice job lier I mean Lawyer. Floyd will fight pacman if he runs out of excuses i mean money to pay his lawyer. hehehehe

  13. Floyd is the man October 25, 2011 at 9:00 am #

Just for the record, Pacquiao would get knocked out. Worse than he has done before. Floyd is badass. It would be over in round eight.

    • Anonymous October 26, 2011 at 8:27 am #

yah gayfloyd will knock out pac when his hands and legs are tied bwa ha ha ha ha…. or maybe gayfloyd will insist to blind fold pac. bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha………

  14. Frank Simmonds October 25, 2011 at 9:45 am #

Pacman is a great fighter. No doubt about it. Floyd however has has much better all around skills, adapts much better to different styles and is far superior. Every boxer looks good in the gym, throwing fast punches and whatever, but how many fighters come out of the ring looking the same as when they come in. It takes real skills, not just speed and power but boxing ring intellegence. Say whatever you want Floyd is the best and if you haven’t beaten Floyd, which noone has, you have not faced the best. Bar None!

    • Wil October 25, 2011 at 2:52 pm #

Well, if it’s all the fights that mayweather fought we’re talking about, then May is NOT the unbeaten. Otherwise, he would have been the Gold Medalist in the Olympics.

    • Benjie Peralta October 25, 2011 at 7:09 pm #

Then fight Manny! No more excuses this time, skills can be measured if the two will finally meet in the ring. It is the HEART and WILL will make the difference. We been tracking this
negotiations 2 years ago and again FLOYD is turning it down. Money is not a factor here but the afraid of losing that’s why.

  15. Aldawg October 25, 2011 at 12:35 pm #

I think the problem is that his Daddy got him spooked about fighting Pacquiao. He was all ready to fight him two years ago until his Daddy started talking about his gotta be on something (A-side meth) bull crap.

  16. Ernani Medenilla October 25, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

floyd jr is a pretender… so when reality bites he cant even support his claims. being the greatest is facing and beating all possible opponents, if floyd kept his distance from pacquiao history will define him as the coward of boxing.

  17. AKT October 25, 2011 at 2:02 pm #

Manny Pacquiao … Shut Floyd up by taking the test not by publicly professing your desire to get him in the ring.

Take the test. Olympic style ..

  18. Anonymous October 25, 2011 at 2:39 pm #

Floyd Mayweather PPV Champ NO more…

You know why ??? Because he is a “TURDUCKEN”, a combination of TURKEY/DUCK/CHICKEN all-in-one human body and afraid to lose his ZERO “0″ to PACMAN the GOAT “Greatest Of All Time”…

Let’s all BOYCOTT Stupid/Idiot/Moron/Imbecile/Arrogant/Racist/Lier/Criminal Fraud’s coming fights… What a shame to AMERICA Land of the Braves !!!

As I read the whole comments here, seems like fans on both sides are really fighting for their favorite boxers. It’s like a literal punching of comments here.
